Pedro Benevides, 47 years old, has been a journalist since 1999. He began his career at EuroNews in France before joining RTP, where, for over a decade, he covered Society and Politics. In 2014, he moved to SIC, and two years later was appointed Political Editor of the network. In 2018, he joined Observador, also as Political Editor, overseeing both the newspaper and radio coverage. Alongside his political commentary on air, he hosted the interview and analysis program (and podcast) Vichyssoise. In September 2020, he joined TVI as Deputy News Director, overseeing digital content and special projects. He coordinated multiple news segments and produced election night broadcasts in collaboration with CNN's American team. In recent years, he has
interviewed the country’s key political figures, including the Prime Minister, the President of the Republic, and the main opposition leaders.
As a special correspondent, he was sent to Brussels at the outset of the Ukraine war, reporting live from various capitals. He also covered major events such as recent U.S. elections, elections in Brazil, NATO summits, the death of Fidel Castro, Queen Elizabeth II's Jubilee and funeral, and the passing of Pope Benedict XVI.
Since February 2023, he has been one of the anchors of Jornal Nacional, TVI’s main news program.
